That cliche is one of my least favorites, but it is so apt in this situation. We were talking about today's class when Phoebe told me "you don't know everything that I do at my school, Mom! Only what I tell you!" She was getting mad at me for asking probing questions to get her to tell me more about an activity they did with caterpillars. She is apparently very aware that school is something that is hers and she only lets me into that world if she wants to. Obviously, that is an important area of control.
