Don't Tread on Me

Phoebe has this funny thing she does--she made a snake out of one of Brett's old ties in preschool when she went to the children's farm. When she comes across this snake in her toy box, she stuffs it under Brett's pillow for him to discover when he goes to sleep. We never know when it happens until he goes to bed and indeed finds the snake. It's an unspoken game they play. I'll see if I can find a picture of said snake to include here.

Why'd we name her Phoebe?

Why'd we name him Beckett

I saw the name in a name book and called Brett to add it to the list. It grew on us and we liked it very much. We thought of associations we might have with the name, and all of them are positive. There is Samuel Beckett the playwright who writes about existential themes and ideas--something I really liked in college. And there is Beck Hansen, the talented and artistic musician who Brett and I like very much. Other than that, there is no meaning attached to his name, but it is a nice, strong sounding name and his initials are the same as his Daddy's (BRL).
